The Art of Storytelling
April 12 @ 3:00 pm
Stories and folk tales provide a kaleidoscope of wisdom. They are like an owner’s manual on how to be a wise human being. There’s something special about telling a story verses reading it. This class is an introduction to those who want to develop the storyteller within. Working with stories from around the world you will learn basic storytelling techniques. There is no memorization! This is not a drama class. It is for people interested in exploring themes and symbolic meanings in stories for adults. Most importantly, you will learn how to tell a story with confidence. We work with wisdom-based tales for midlife and elder tales.
About the instructor:
Nancy Turner MEd, a retired psychotherapist, taught numerous story telling classes for over twenty years at retreat centers, PSU, and most recently at the Columbia Community College in The Dalles.
Nancy has a long track record of satisfied students.
“I took my first class in storytelling because I was shy and wanted to gain confidence speaking in front of groups of people. It worked. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to remember a long story, but I discovered it is easier than I thought.” – NT
“I learned things about myself I never knew before. This class changed my life.” -JN
Classes for this program will run on April 12, 19 and 26, from 3-5pm.
