Slide and Glide Nordic ski community fun race
February 1 @ 10:00 am
This is a fundraiser for the Hood River Valley High School Nordic ski team!
These events are all about having a good time on cross-country skis, a great way to meet the local skiing community and give racing a try. No experience is needed (but a lot can be gained. Race fees will include entry in a raffle for some sweet prizes. On top of all that, the Meadows Nordic Center will provide outdoor fires, food and drinks, and lessons for purchase.
Race Details:
- We have established a fun, yet challenging 2.5-kilometer loop (roughly 1.55 miles with 200 feet of up & down) through the Meadows Nordic trail system. It is not flat, which makes it extra fun.
- The races will be 1, 2 or 4 laps of that loop, so you can choose to race 2.5k, 5k or 10k.
- All races are mass start, freestyle races, meaning most folks will skate, but classic technique is allowed too.
- Races will be timed by volunteers (please be kind), so you can race your own time throughout the winter. (Strava segments will also be created.)
Race Schedule:
- 10:00am – 10k start – Slide & Glide 10k Strava segment (coming)
- 10:05am – 5k start – Slide & Glide 5k Strava segment
- 10:10am – 2.5k start – Slide & Glide 2.5k Strava segment
FYI – Prior to the community races, we will hold high school races for OISRAN-registered skiers. They will start at 9:00am, if you would like to cheer on some young racers while you warm up.
