Sip & Fire with local Enamel Artist Kathryn Watne

1-time class, choose from 2 dates: 11/24 and 12/8. Class Description: Learn about working with enamels with Kathryn Watne and create an enamel decorated light switch, toggle or GFI outlet plate. Join her as she teaches the art of enameling on copper light switch covers. Enamel is composed of silica (glass) and oxides of metal for a beautiful array of colors and is fired in a kiln at 1450 degrees for about 3-4 minutes. Each person will be supplied with one light switch cover (please indicate which type you would like: toggle, gfi, or outlet) enamels, and templates for design.
About the Artist:
Kathryn Watne has been an enamel artist in Hood River for over 25 years. She learned the art of enameling at the University of Washington. Currently a member at 301 Art Gallery, she is constantly learning and growing in her craft ,taking classes in Mexico and Morocco and expanding her products to sterling silver jewelry and gemstones. Her studio is located in Hood River and she has been a participant in the Gorge Open Studio Tours for the last 15 years and is currently a working board member of that organization.
