Workshop Descriptions (more to come)

Bluegrass Jamming 101: Learn basic bluegrass jam skills, jam etiquette, and the Nashville Numbering System while focusing on some bluegrass jam standards. Guitar, banjo, and mandolin participants should know basic chords. Guitarists and banjo players should bring a capo.

Introduction to Building Banjo Breaks with Tony Fuentes: Learn the basics of building a banjo break and bluegrass jam survival skills.

Harmony Singing with Lincoln Crockett & Linda Robertson: Explore your most natural instrument and how to use it to create the sweet bluegrass harmonies we love.

Fiddle Workshop with Linda Robertson: Learn and practice tunes & technique, the keys to bluegrass and old-time fiddle.

The Fanciest Snare-Drum, A Bluegrass Mandolin Workshop: From chords to tunes, chopping to soloing, explore how to play this powerful little instrument.

Introduction to Bluegrass Guitar with Lincoln Crockett: Learn the basics of bluegrass guitar – chords, strumming technique, walk-ups and more.

Band Scramble: The band scramble is a tradition at bluegrass festivals. If you’re not familiar with them, here’s the deal… If you’ve ever played in a jam session, or if you can play three chords in rhythm, just put your name in the hat! Bands are created by picking names out of hats for each instrument.

The random bands will have 30 minutes to meet, pick a band name, come up with a tune to play (ideally one y’all happen to know or can learn quickly), and practice a bit. The RW&B workshop instructors will provide moral support and some instruction where needed… And the scrambled bands take it to the stage!
