Plant Alchemy: Indigo Ice Dye & Eco-Printing w/Leaves Bundle Dyeing

During this 1-session class we will learn about amazing Indigo plant and an ice vat extraction of it’s color. We will go through information on cultivation, harvesting, and processing techniques for the plant and then make our own ice vat extraction using the leaves. Fabric materials will be provided to dye with. We will also learn about the process of bundle dying using leaves and flowers. We will discuss what plants and flowers extract color, mordanting process, and specific techniques for doing leaf and flower prints. You will be given dye fabrics of both cotton and silk to use to create your own unique patterns using leaves and flowers. Class will be held at a location in Hood River, Oregon~the exact location will be shared at time of registration.
