Mitchell Jett Spencer: Sound of Movement

Local pianist Mitchell Jett Spencer will perform Sound of Movement, a solo piano concert of dance-inspired pieces within the classical genre. These performances will be held at 7pm November 22 at Hood River Valley Christian Church and 7pm November 30 at Riverside Community Church. Admission is free (no advanced ticket sales), while a suggested donation of $20 per person is encouraged.

Spencer’s program explores the very definition of “dance music” through an eclectic selection of pieces sampled across a wide range of styles, eras, and cultures. Through works by Nikolai Medtner, Florence Price, Karol Szymanowski, and other often-overlooked composers, Sound of Movement aims to challenge the listener’s preconceptions of the relationship between music and
dance.
