Garden Gathering Seed Saving workshop

The Garden Gathering series continues with Central Gorge Master Gardener volunteer, Christie Bradley and former Central Gorge Master Gardener, Christine Bluestone presenting a workshop on seed saving.
Topics to be covered in this workshop include:
- Open pollinated and hybrid varieties
- Annuals & Biennials
- Processing seeds
- Types of seed that are easiest to save
- Seed viability
Bradley and Bluestone have a combined 28 years of experience in saving, sharing and using saved seeds. Bradley exclaims, “Seed saving is a great way to keep a favorite annual plant growing in your garden each year.” With Bluestone following up with, “Knowing how to select viable seeds and how to prepare them for storage is key to your success.”
The Garden Gathering “Seed Saving” Workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 6:30 – 8 PM at the White Salmon Library, 77 NE Wauna Ave., White Salmon, WA
All are welcome to attend the Garden Gathering to learn how to save, prepare, and store seeds for use next season. No registration is needed for this free workshop. The final Garden Gathering workshop topic for the 2024 season will cover Tool Care on Saturday, October 12, 10 – 11:30 at the Hood River County Extension, 2990 Experiment Station Drive, Hood River, OR.
Central Gorge Master Gardener volunteers provide free beginning gardening classes and continuing education to home gardeners. Home gardeners can also drop off plant or pest samples Monday – Thursday between 9 AM and 4 PM at the OSU Hood River County Extension Service, 2990 Experiment Station Drive, Hood River, OR.
