Botanical Illustration: Ink and Watercolor

Learn how to create ink-and-watercolor botanical illustrations! Join artist Molly Chidsey at an in-person workshop to learn how to sketch, ink and paint simple, modern plants or flowers. We’ll sketch from live leaf and flower cuttings, as well as a paintable worksheet (provided).
You will learn how to:
1. Create a composition from a live flower or leaf
2. Draw a rough sketch in pencil and ink your drawing
3. Paint your botanical illustration with watercolors using layering and color mixing techniques
4. Options for embellishing your illustration with the date, plant name, and other details
Supplies needed:
- Basic student watercolor kit
- Basic student-grade round watercolor brush
- Basic student-grade Cold-press watercolor paper
- Pencil and soft white eraser
- Mono line pigment drawing pen, .03 or .05 nib preferred
