Almost Spring Dance with the Jazz Collective Big Band
March 1 @ 7:00 pm
Thanks to weather and venue availability, the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association had to reschedule some December and January performances. But everything is back on track, and the musicians are ready to entertain local audiences.
On Friday, March 1, the Jazz Collective Big Band presents an Almost Spring Dance at 7 PM at the Hood River Elks Lodge. Directed by Michael Paul, the Jazz Collective will present an evening of upbeat big band jazz by Count Basie, Quincy Jones, Neal Hefti, Duke Ellington and many more. As always, audiences are invited to dance to the music or just listen and enjoy. Refreshments are available. The dance runs from 7-9 PM and tickets are available at gorgeorchestra.org. Tickets are $10 for adults, and those under 18 are free.
Also upcoming in March is The Passion of Italy, bringing together the Gorge Sinfonietta and Voci Community Choir to perform Puccini’s Messa di Gloria. The concert also features music by Verdi and Albinoni. The Passion of Italy concerts are March 8 at 7 PM and March 10 at 2 PM, at the Wy’east Middle School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at gorgeorchestra.org.
