Advent Concert Series #1

At Riverside Community Church, Hood River: From young voices to jazz to Bach organ classics, this year’s Advent Concert Series at Riverside brings home all the joys of Christmas music.

The free concerts are on Fridays at Noon, Dec. 6, 13, and 20, in the Riverside church sanctuary. The concerts behind the big purple doors of the historic church are a 51-year tradition at Riverside. The sanctuary will be full of greenery and candles, and the restored pipe organ and grand piano will be center stage.

On Friday, December 6, hear the Hood River Valley High School Chamber Singers directed by Payton Swartout. Swartout is the new band and choir director at the school, and is a graduate of the Music in Education program at the University of Oregon. He sang with the UO Chamber Choir, which performed for the Royal Family of Spain in the Cathedral de Santiago de Compostela. He has performed with many ensembles including the Oregon Back Festival.
