Oregon performance artist, storyteller, and author, Susan Banyas, will be performing at the Columbia Center for the Arts on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m.
The performance, “Outtakes” is a multi-media performance from her new book, “The Hillsboro Story: A Kaleidoscope History of an Integration Battle in my Hometown”. (Hillsboro, Ohio not Oregon). After the 50-minute presentation there will be time for Q&A. Susan spent more than twenty years researching, writing, and developing multi-media performance on The Hillsboro Story. At its core, it is a social justice history and memoir of the struggle for school integration after Brown vs. the Board of Education. It also features the courageous African-American women in the small town of Hillsboro, Ohio who protested against the local school board and ultimately won. The Hillsboro Story book was published this year by Spuyten Duyvil Press in NYC. Books will be available for sale after the event. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for students.
