Following the screening we will have a panel discussion with parents, youth, activists, and educators to engage in a conversation about their lived experiences, disproportionate discipline, systemic barriers for Black girls in educational systems, and how we can work together as a community to address and change historically systemic barriers for Black girls in school.
Content disclosure: the documentary focuses on challenges Black girls face, emphasizing first-person narratives from girls; some elements discussed include suicidal ideation and there are images/videos of excessive force against Black youth. We recognize that Black, Indigenous, People of Color have experienced trauma and that these elements may be triggering.
