This weekly painting class will ensure everyone’s safety – and luckily it is not difficult to paint together in large outdoor areas like state parks or other open areas while maintaining a distance of 6 feet, or even 150 feet. Please read below for more info, and feel free to contact me with any questions.
10 sessions, Friday afternoons, 12pm to 4pm.
The class structure will balance plein air time, working the motif well, doing multiple studies, and contrasting that with loose versions paring down the forms and the gesture of the forms and spaces. Working and reworking the color will be important.
The best realism distorts the subject and context of the painting through abstract means in order to give feeling to the experience of the viewer. Multiple versions of each motif will be a central part of our work. There will be lessons and directions each session and feedback one on one and group discussion.
July 3 – Sept 4, 2020
Noon – 4pm every Friday
Three different locations in the countryside, 3 class sessions per site:
– 6 outdoor sessions at the 3 sites, en plein air – sur le motif
– 4 remote sessions in studio via Zoom: analysis and exercises based on painting concepts (composition, dark-light structure, color, tension, proportion, feeling, unity).
**This studio part of the class will take place remotely, via Zoom. I now also have a better way to show demonstrations using a webcam.
A great way to spend your Fridays!
