Join instructors Julie Beeler and Kathy O’Hern for a day of learning how to create natural dyes and eco prints with local plants to design a beautiful silk scarf. We will spend the morning creating natural dye baths from materials grown at Bloom & Dye flower farm in Trout Lake. We will play with different Japanese shibori techniques to create design patterns to use as your base for eco printing. The afternoon will be filled with designing your scarf with local plants to create a richly colored silk scarf with leaves and flowers. While the scarves are in the steamer we will create custom eco print cards for you to take home along with your silk scarf.
No previous experience with natural dyes, eco printing or textiles is necessary. Open to adults of all ages and young people 12 and up accompanied by an adult.
The cost for the workshop is $80 (Includes $10 material fee, $30 instructor fee, and $40 donation) . All proceeds from our Community Workshops go towards scholarships for our Cascade Mountain School program.
