Many seniors living in assisted living and care facilities are in isolation without their usual visits from friends, family and community service workers. Patrons can support local seniors by writing letters. Patrons can contact email@example.com for details about drop-off, pick up and delivery.
People have been addressing correspondence to “A friend I haven’t met yet” or “Dear Community Member.” A simple message about your day, description of the flowers you see outside your window, or a hopeful word are all that is needed. Children’s drawings or writing are most appreciated. Rheva Wren, who created the program, said, “It’s been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. The cards and letters from the community members are so welcome at the care facilities.”
