Financial Literacy Month Speaker Series: Financial Empowerment for Survivors of Domestic Violence: Trauma-Informed Approach
This workshop will focus on the impact domestic violence has on an individual’s financial and economic future. 99% of all domestic violence involves financial abuse. 1 in 4 women will experience intimate partner violence in her lifetime.
We will explain what financial abuse is and how to recognize and respond to it, through a trauma-informed lens. The interactive components will center around best practices in how to support and encourage someone who has experienced financial abuse, taking into consideration that individuals who have been subjected to financial abuse may be reluctant to discuss money altogether. This important session is especially useful for anyone working directly with individuals in a nonprofit or educational setting.
