Back by popular demand, the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association presents Chill 2, a second annual concert of chamber music. Artistic director Mark Steighner describes the performance as “an intimate, casual and enjoyable celebration of small-scale music, performed by CGOA musicians and guests.”
Included on the program will be piano and cello duets, piano and violin duets, beautiful art songs, the Canticum vocal ensemble and Europatopia, a gypsy klezmer band led by Joel Kabokov. A string quartet made up of CGOA musicians all playing instruments that are not their “regular” instrument will also be featured. Last year’s chamber music concert was a sell out.
Chill 2 is part of a busy winter season that also includes The Gorge Sings! (Again) in February as well as a very special February performance by the Sinfonietta, with Dr Erik Steighner from Pacific Lutheran University as soloist. The first ever Gorge performance of the classic musical West Side Story opens March 6.
The Chill 2 Chamber Music Concert is free, with donations accepted. It starts at 2 PM at Valley Christian Church. More information about CGOA events can be found at gorgeorchestra.org
