July 16-19, 1-4pm, Instructed by Rene Allene Westbrook, Ages: 8-12 years, Cost: $80
From fierce, horned Viking helmets to feather-adorned fedoras, hats define whole cultures and periods of time. Pins come in a huge variety from cheap pressed-tin political pins to King and Queen’s jewel-encrusted adornments, pins have been worn by both men and women, for both decoration and function. In this workshop, students will explore working with a variety of methods and materials using conventional and nontraditional millinery and jewelry materials, fabric, paint, beads, recycled materials, bake clay, found objects and other fun stuff. We’ll create our own outrageous pieces of wearable art!
