Singer, songwriter and fingerstyle guitar master, Kit Garoutte, is back on the Stave & Stone stage and this time he’ll be jamming out with Nancy Cook. Here’s what you need to know about Nancy;
Music is often poetically described as a vehicle. In the case of songwriter Nancy Cook, the term is literal. In the course of her lengthy musical career, Nancy’s songs have taken her around the world–the Pacific Northwest, the California/Oregon coast, through the Rocky Mountains, down to Texas, out to Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana, and overseas to Italy, Jordan, Japan, Korea–even Iwo Jima! She is at ease playing everywhere from large performance halls to cozy pubs and cafes, living room concerts, barefoot beach bars, conferences, outdoor festivals and the like.
In the large concert format, Nancy has opened as a solo artist for such diverse national acts as Shawn Colvin, Lyle Lovett, Leo Kottke, David Wilcox, Warren Zevon, Rodney Crowell, Karla Bonoff, Shake Russell, David Bromberg and Leon Russell. In listening settings such as these, she enjoys sharing the humorous and heart-filled stories that surround many of her original songs-stories of the human journey we all share. On the flip side, when taking on the role of resort scene court jester she gets a charge out of shaking it up with a wide variety of fun classic crowd pleasers that aren’t on the usual “cover song radar” for acoustic club musicians.
Nancy looks forward to mixing things up with local guitar legend Kit Garoutte at Stave and Stone in downtown Hood River on FRIDAY, June 23, at 7 PM.
