August 12, 3:30pm
Instructor: Brian Chambers
This class will introduce adult students to the amazing world of taking photographs after the sun has set. Topics covered will include necessary equipment, critical camera settings and controls, software, light painting, star trails, Milky Way shots, and what makes a great nightscape. There will be a 90 minute indoor class (from 3:30-5pm) that will be illustrated with some of Brian’s favorite photos.
After a break, the class will meet up at an outdoor location (from 8:45-9:45pm) to work on what was learned in class. The field location will be determined depending on class interest and conditions but may involve up to a 25 minute drive (students will be responsible for their own transportation). One-on-one instruction will be provided in the field for an additional 60 minutes. The goal of the class is to have every student gain the skills and confidence to create nightscape images.
Space is limited to 12 adult students; register early!
Ideally students should have their own tripod and digital camera. It would be very helpful if students know how to control their cameras basic settings, especially shutter speed, ISO, and aperture while in manual mode and how to use camera auto-focus.
Brian Chambers is a landscape photographer living in Hood River who loves chasing amazing light and finding the fantastic locations that make the Gorge one of the best places in the world to photograph.
