Join Cascade Mountain School, an outdoor science school, for our monthly adult and family outing at the Trout Lake Abbey on Saturday, July 22nd. We will discuss compassion and how it manifests in our lives and our personal engagement with the world. We will explore as group a few heart-opening activities, based on the work of Joanna Macy, that allow us to sink into deeper connection with ourselves and each other. We can take these tools home for use in our daily lives. We will be led by Emily Martin, Cascade Mountain School Director, and Reverend Thay Kozen with the Mt. Adams Zen Temple.
We will leave time at the end for a farm tour to visit the organic vegetable gardens, the alpacas, the chickens, orchard, and labyrinth. We will learn more about animal welfare certification and how this represents an act of compassion towards alleviating the suffering of animals.
If you haven’t visited the Abbey, this is a great weekend to explore the serenity of this place.
Adults and children 10+ are welcome to join us.
When: Saturday, July 22, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (note date change from Saturday, July 15)
